Hertfordshire Building Preservation Trust

Established 1963

“It has been most truly said that these old buildings do not belong to us: that they belonged to our forefathers and they will belong to our descendants unless we play them false. They are not in any sense our property to do as we like with them. We are only trustees for those who come after us” William Morris 1889

For six decades, the Trust has helped keep our county's history alive by preserving buildings of architectural and historic importance and saving at-risk buildings from ruin.

Hertfordshire Building Preservation Trust Objectives

  • Preserving buildings of architectural and historic importance
  • Helping to rescue buildings at risk
  • Organising conservation seminars, exhibitions and visits
  • Providing learning and outreach programmes for young people
  • Managing two heritage museums and a medieval hall

We cannot continue to protect these listed buildings without your help!

All these historic buildings need substantial monies invested annually to maintain them without which the buildings will slowly fall into disrepair - so please help by making a donation to save these irreplaceable historic assets for future generations.
